Mardin station is located about 5km outside the city of Mardin, at the foot of the hill on which this city is. The station is located a the exist of a 90° curve, the only major curve of this branch. This curve places the station in alignement with a valley can could be a climb path to Mardin, should the line had been extended further.
The current track layout is quite simple with a main track and two sidings. It is stricking to note the absence of turntable or turn triangle, as well as the absence of stabling facility for engines. whether a turntable or turn triangle existed in the past is not known.
The station main building seems not changed sinced it was built in 1918.
