46001 to 46025

  • Axle: 2'D
  • Total quantity: 25
  • First year: 1926, 1932-35
  • Manufacturer: Henschel, Krupp

These locos are devided into 2 sub-class that externally differs in details

  • 46001 to 46010, built in 1926
  • 46011 to 46025, built in 1932

There are three spotting tips to recognize the second class from the first:

  • the first series have no smoke deflectors.
  • in the second series the running board are higher above the wheels, clearing all the wheels and rods.
  • in the second series the four domes have been reduced to two by using combined steam/sand domes

History

Also custom built for Turkey, these engines where fully designed by borrowing component from the German standard locomotives of the times. Parts where borrowed in particular from the P8 and the G8. In fact, the first batch resembles a "Stretched P8".

A similar approach was done for the 57001 designed and built soon after.
