Şenyurt to Mardin
- OpenStreetMap location
- Length: 24,3 Km
This short branch is intented to serve the ancient city of Mardin. It was built 1918 by the Baghdad Railway. This line is an almost straight and flat run. It is in fact going sighly uphill. But the line stops 5km away from Mardin city center: Mardin is located on a stronghold and requires a rise of 300m on the last 5km. This kind of climb is simply not feasible for a regular railway.
