- Manufacturer: Henschel, Schwarzkopff, Krupp
History
These engines have been designed and manufactured for TCDD as a lightweight, high power engine for mixed service on lightly laid track. The 57000 is basically a G10 with two trucks and an elongated boiler. The boiler is similar to the 46001 and was originally derived from the German P8.
The result is a handsome engine with an axle load of only 13,5 T. Just like the 56910, the 57000 were used on the lines around Izmir until the end of steam. Hopefully, many units of this typical Turkish locomotive have been preserved.
