These railcars are likely to be the first internal combustion engines units used in Turkey. They were built by Škoda, in Czechoslovakia from May 1934 to June 1934. Škoda referred to TCDD railcars as 11Mo1. For the design, Škoda used the experience gained in railcar type 7Mo1/Mo2/Mo3 of which 60 were delivered to CSD in 1932-1935. It has to be noted that Škoda subsequently manufactured type 14Mo1 to 14Mo5, of which 51 were delivered to CSD in 1937-1942.
