Description

These engines currently belong to ZBH (Bosnia Herzegovina railways) and are rented by TCDD. They are of ZBH type 1143, which is a renovation of former JZ (Yugoslavian railways) engines type 441. Koncar carried out this renovation in Zagreb on the same design as HZ (Croatian Railways) type 1141.3. Koncar originally assembled these engines in the late 60's, early 70's by licensing the ASEA type Rb and their diode rectifier design. During the renovation, the diodes were replaced by a thyristor rectifier, thus the 1143 became cousins of ASEA type Rc.

During renovation, the body remained unchanged and is almost identical to the original Swedish design. It can be easily recognized in all the countries where these locomotives were exported (Yugoslavia, Romania, Norway, USA, …)

These locomotives were withdrawn from TCDD on April 3, 2011 upon finish of the lease contract.

A transitional white livery. The body is all white with a blue and a red strip at the bottom. The roof is blue. The doors are red. A blue strip, V shaped is painted on each front end. This livery was introduced in late 2003. Only 52516 was recorded with this livery and was later repainted.

The last white red blue livery. The body is white with two red strips: on at the bottom, another at the top. The frame skirts are blue. The roof is grey. The doors are red as well as a pro-eminent TCDD logo. This livery was introduced in 2004 but not all loco were repainted at the time of withdrawal.
